TINY WORLD: SCULPTURE AND MINIATURE MAKING

This studio will use a wide variety of materials to create a tiny world of art! Artists will create dioramas filled with small scale sculptures. Artists will experience air dry clay, paper mache, cardboard construction, and many other interesting materials. Projects will be very open-ended. Artists will have the freedom to pick a theme and run with it!

ART AND ARCHITECTURE

12 pm – 2 pm
Artists will tour historical buildings and places in downtown Terre Haute and create artwork inspired by what they see. Sketchbooks and pencils will be provided for artists to sketch and write down their ideas while on-site. Each day, they will do a small tour, and return to the Swope to create artwork based on what they learned.

PAINT YOUR PET!
July 13 – 17
12 pm – 2 pm
Have fun while learning in this intermediate level acrylic painting studio where artists will learn the elements and principles of design as well as several acrylic painting techniques. The artists will then apply those art appropriate terms to their artwork making a painting using up close pieces and parts of an animal of their choice.
* the picture used for a reference can be a beloved pet or a random animal!

SUPER PSYCHEDELIC DRAWING AND DOODLES
July 20 – 24
12 pm – 2 pm
Artists will use fun, mixed-media techniques to add extra flair to their drawings! This studio will focus on improving observational drawings skills as well as having artists try their hand at drip painting, cup paint pours, splatter painting, and paint marker sketching. The end result: drippy, colorful, and totally unique creations!

POP ART COLLAGES AND GRIDS!
July 20 – 24
12 pm – 2 pm
Artists will have fun while learning in this intermediate level acrylic painting studio. Artists will learn about various pop art including artists like Romero Britto, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Artists will also learn about the elements and principles of design, as well as several acrylic painting techniques. The artists will then apply those art appropriate terms to their artwork making a painting using up close broken pieces and parts for a grid or a collage using one or more items from the pop culture of their choice.
